Planning, organization and control of engineering projects. In particular cases it may include the construction management of engineering designs performed by Pro-Tech.
Development phase of a process design where several processing routes are assessed and analyzed and the most promising alternative is defined. Preliminary cost estimates with an order of magnitude of +/- 50% are normally performed during this phase. Process simulation, process analysis, scale-up and cost engineering tools and skills are a must for successful endeavors.
Further development of the Conceptual Design where a comprehensive package of engineering documents like process flow diagrams, piping & instrumentation diagrams, process datasheets for equipment and instruments and preliminary plot plans are developed. Such document package comprises sufficient information to allow for cost estimates with order of magnitude of +/- 20-30%.
Preparation of detailed engineering documents in all disciplines – Process, Piping, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Civil – aiming the procurement of equipment, instruments, piping, construction companies etc., as well aiming the assembly, commissioning and start-up of the new plant. Eventually, licensing documents related to public entities such as environmental agency, fire department, city hall etc. may be issued during the detail design phase. Due to the detailed information available at the end of this phase, a cost estimation with order of magnitude of +/- 10% is possible.

Additional services regarding the support to the assembly and construction phase. Support to commissioning and start-up activities may also be provided.
Studies focusing on the increase of productivity and yield, reduction of energy consumption and enhancement of safety and operability in existing processes. Deep unit operations knowledge and advanced process modeling and simulation tools are applied in such jobs.
Implementation of automatic control in existing processes in order to improve repeatability and product quality, reduction of operating cycles, increase of process safety and elimination of manual operations.
Preparation of operation manuals of process and utility units, as well as operators training.
Process development and design of collection and treatment systems for gaseous, liquid and solid emissions in chemical and petrochemical plants.
PROCESS SAFETY ‐ HAZOP
Risk assessment in chemical and petrochemical processes using traditional techniques such as HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Studies). After the completion of the preliminary versions of the PFDs, P&IDs and plot plans (normally at the end of the Basic Design phase), the conduction of a hazop is recommended. Besides being an effective tool in improving a particular design with respect to its safety and operability, hazop sections are very effective in presenting and communicating the new project to every department involved in the company (maintenance, operations, R&D, safety and health etc.).
